In the late 1800s, the Moni Family from Lucca, Italy, went in search of better opportunities and heard about the goldfields of Johannesburg. They decided to move there to seek their fortunes. To cater to the growing number of Italian immigrants who followed them, the Monis established a grocery store that sold imported goods from Italy. Over time, the store evolved into South Africa's largest pasta manufacturer, Fatti's & Monis.

Valentino Mori arrived in South Africa to work for Luigi Fatti and his son, Bruno Mori eventually became a crucial figure in the wine trade. Initially, he joined the Fatti's Winery but later left to serve in the armed forces. Interestingly, Bruno did not return to work for Fatti's after the war because he had married Bianca Moni, Pietro Moni's daughter. This made it impossible for him to continue working for Fatti's. However, the two wineries merged in 1952, and Mori became responsible for the technical and financial management of Monis Wineries for many decades.
Bianca & Bruno Mori

Eugene and Marilyn Mori with their daughter Yolanda, who helps operate the farm with them.
Eugene Mori, the son of Bruno and Bianca Mori, together with his wife Marilyn, bought a small holding in 1995 located just outside Stellenbosch in Devonvale. Their goal was to continue their family legacy by creating an Italian Style Agriturismo where guests could enjoy lodging and food made from the raw materials grown on the farm. They planted 300 olive trees and 2 hectares of vineyards to produce their own olive oil and Italian-style wine. Today, Casa Mori offers 5 B&B rooms, as well as Olive Oil, Wine, and Pasta for their guests to experience.

Eugene and Marilyn invite you to experience the warmth of their family home, where authentic Italian and South African hospitality come together. Enjoy delicious cuisine and heartfelt conversation in a cozy atmosphere, and create unforgettable memories with them.
